Hello, would the inegration with Active Social take in count for next Event Calendar & Registration module release?

Currently the version 4.0 only support integration with Smart-Thinker module.

Thanks,
Javier Esteller

Javier,

We have not yet integrated with Active Social.

But in v4.0.x we do provide a new module: My Events, the module will also read the URL parameter: "uid" to display the user's events.

Hello,

Thanks for answering.
I've upgraded to Event Calendar version 4.0.3, and added the My Events module to Testing it.
I thought that this module would have an option to introduce the 'uid' or 'asui' to get integrated the AS events of the user there, but I've been reviewing it and I cannot find any option to set this up.

Please could you explain me where and how have to be set the uid to get this working?

Thanks in advance,
Javier

The module will be able to read the "uid" parameter.

such as this:
www.abc.com/tabid/111/default.aspx?uid=2

Hi,

I really don't understand what does this mean? How would this integrate with Active Social?

i.e.: This is and example of an AS profile url where the AS Events created by user are displayed: ../Profile/tabid/88/asuid/505/Default.aspx

Is there a way to get displayed the Active Social Event from the user 505 on the My Events module?

The 'My Events' module only displays a Table grid with the events created by the current user.
I don't find any possibility to set any url parameter here like uid '505'to be readed by the My Events module.

Have to be manually introduced on the DB at events table?

Any thoughts, or explanation of if it is possible to integrate with Active Social somehow, this requires extra programming on our side?

I really appreciate some feedback with clarifications.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, it can be integrated to AS for now.

Our module takes in the parameter "uid", whereas AS produce the parameter "asuid".

In your case, you can display using My Events module this way:
/Profile/tabid/88/uid/505/Default.aspx

We will continue to work on this so that it can integrate with AS seamlessly.

Last discussion, you were going to allow it to be configurable so that it could use uid, asuid, or any other parameter. This is the way every other module I've seen has implemented it, and this makes it easy to add it to profile tabs.

Now that Active Social 1.8 is out it has an API exposed that will let module developers do more integration. For instance, events can not only be assigned to a user so that they show up in their profile, now the events can also be integrated into the Journal so that they show up in the Social Summary as well. The first module to do this is Ventrian News Articles and it is my understanding that the Ventrian Property Agent and Feedback Manager are also being integrated more fully with AS.

Inven Manager, can you offer an estimate as to when you might have the Events module integrated with the Journal in Active Social. From speaking with Active Modules, it seems to be a pretty straightforward process. But I know you have to work this into your priorities.

Thanks so much for the great work you do in providing rock-solid modules for DNN.

It's worth noting that Will at Active Modules did say that 3rd parties could possibly get a free Active Social license to develop for the journal.

Do you have an indication as yet for the v4.0.4 release with the ability to configure asuid?

Not seeing it. Apart from the main Events & Registration module, the rest were the same as already installed - I reinstalled anyway, but is it possible the package omits some updated files?

There should be a new module called:

Events Calendar My Events

Do you have it?

I do have the My Events module, and added it to a page - but can't see anything for configuring the user parameter within the View Options (pictured below). There's also no module-specific settings in the Settings page - just the standard DNN ones.

Matt,

I know the problem. Follow the steps below to fix it:

1. Login as Host, go to Host >> Module Definitions
2. Click to Edit "Events Calendar My Events" module
3. Under Module Controls, click Edit "View Options"
4. In the Source dropdown list, select: DesktopModules/EventsCalendar/MyEventsOptions.ascx
5. And save it.

That's all.

Thanks very much! This did work.

I do have a couple of questions though. I've hooked it up to Active Social now, as you can see below. However the list of events for each user doesn't show for 'anonymous' (ie. not logged in) users? I've shown what I mean below. Ideally it would show events created by the user for anyone with permissions to the page/module - eg. http://www.autechheads.com/users/matt-marlor#showtab=events - and if the user is logged in, they can edit or delete them.

Also, as per the below screenshot, it seems to be missing the Event Title, Event Date, etc headers for the logged-in users. I've looked in the HTML for the page and it isn't in there? There do seem to be some resource file issues, eg. the blank 'edit' option in the drop down, and the empty text label shown in the second shot. The headers do appear for a host or admin account.

Finally, is there any options to edit the layout? I'd like to remove some of the fields displayed.

Matt,

1, We will fix the resource file issue.

2, do you think it should display using a template, like the Satellite module?

We'd love to see the ability to use templates and integration with the journal feed of Active Social. At the moment the blue grid display format above wouldn't be usable for us. Ideally the date/ time would also need to be formatted like 23 Oct 2010 with the time wrapping underneath to conserve space.

We have a number of projects that will be able to leverage this integration once it's more customisable.
Thanks
Adam

Did the template for My Events occur yet?

Worth noting that we now have Blogs, Video, and Forums integrated to Active Social journal - InvenManager Events is the last one we're hoping for.

It would be great if this allowed for posting to the journal, and also for some group-based functionality as I mentioned before:

Also, I've had some thought and also done some checking on the ActiveModules site, and I think I see a way to do group integration with ActiveSocial too.

This would be an additional mode for the My Events module - let's call it "Custom group querystring".

In this mode, the My Events module would display a "New Event" icon if the user has permissions within Invenmanager. When clicked, it will pass the group ID- which is identified by the querystring parameter "asg"- to Invenmanager. From this point on, event creation will occur as per normal.

The My Events module will then use the "asg" parameter display any events created for the group, while in this mode.

Once the ActiveSocial journal api details are available, you could also use the asg parameter to post to the group journal.

But as a first step, I'd love to see the Active Social Journal integration, and of course for My Events to be fully functional.

Not sure if you frequent the Active Modules forums much or have much to do with Will - feel free to drop me an email if you want to be put in touch with Will, happy to do introductions if it's needed.

The core of our site is the journal, since it allows people to see new stuff added, so getting Invenmanager in there, and hopefully into the Groups as well, is a big deal for me.

I started this thread back in 2009 and I just wanted to reiterate my desire to see full Active Social integration into the journal and groups as well. If you have any timeline estimate that would be great. My understanding is that the Active Social journal integration is pretty straightforward. My biggest use will be for each support group to have its own calendar.

InvenManager....if you need any help (beyond the lifting that Matt and others have already done here) please let me know. I'm working with Will on implementation of Active Social and would really like to see this journal integration happen. As Matt mentioned there is an easy API to the journal which I think would really increase the integration between the modules

"Steven Webster added a new event Mom's Birthday Party to the Community Calendar"

It's worth mentioning of course that Steven actually works for Active Modules, so you have a direct offer to help get it over the line :-)
