I must be missing a check box somewhere but how would I should an future event say on Sept. 2 2010 when we are still in August 2010 in month view? If I switch to September I see them, but I would like to see them while still in August for the few days of September that show up in the August calendar.

If you are using v4.0++, go to View Options >> Show events in other month in Calendar view. Check it, and click Update.
