Is there a way where you can create a satellite view connecting to a Calendar which is hosted on different portal site.

This is the situation we have :-

Our main council meetings calendar is hosted on mybrantford.ca, which has got all the meetings registered for all the Council Meetings.

Now we are building new DNN portal website http://council.brantford.ca, for various Councillors & their City Wards. And on this new portal we need to pull in a Calendar View from base calendar hosted on mybrantford.ca which will show all the meetings which they are part of, basically pulling in a particular category events.

Issue is these are 2 different DNN portals. Now is there a way where your module can connect to different portal to create such views.

If so, yes, the Satellite module can display events from another portal.

Yes the two portals will be on the same DNN install, but not a Parent/Child. And yes, since they are on same install they share the same database.

We have got DNN 5.6.2 & Event Calendar 4.0.6.

Steps I tries:

1. Portal 1 - mybrantford.ca, has got the Community Calendar, with all the categories, events etc....

2. Create a new Portal - council.brantford.ca. Created a new page, added Calendar Satellite View module.

But my second portal did not show the calendars from the first portal when I go to the "View Options". And if I don't see the calendars from portal 1, then I am not sure how can I pull in the events from Portal 1.

Please advise if I am missing any setting to be done at either end.

Hi,

Only ECR v5.0.5 support the cross portal events sharing feature.

So you might need to upgrade to the latest version.

Our concern is, will there be any impact on the data.

Will it carry over all the data from the custom fields. Also will it keep all the data in the Venue list & Category.

You will not lose any data by upgrading.

However, for custom properties, there some changes in the new version.

1. You are going to link each Custom Property to Category.
2. And then assign the Custom Property Category to each event. (Yes, you also can set one category as default).
3. This way, you will retain your custom properties.

You must also read this post before your upgrade, and it is highly recommended to do the upgrades on a testing server first.

Thanks you the info. We did install the trial version on the test environment. Was trying to use the satellite view on Protal2 to display the events from the Portal1, but no luck.

I am not able to see the Calendars from Protal1 in the View Options.

Am I missing any settings. Please advise.

You need to login as Host account to see the other portals under the View Options at Satellite module.

Perfect Thanks. One last issue which I am not able to resolve.

Upon creating a new event, I am not able to save the data. What I see is only cancel button is enabled. Other buttons like Update & Return / Update & Edit Other Info Link Buttons are disabled.

And I am trying to create an event signing in as Admin, even tried with host as well as a registered used. But no luck. Attached the image.

Not sure what I am missing. Please advise.

Have you activated the license?

No I don't have the activation code. I am still using the 30 day trail version to evaluate. Is it that we cannot Add an event in the trial version to test out the features? But in the previous version we used to.

Hi,

Without the activation, you can manage up to 10 events only.

After 10 events, the features will be disabled.

You can manually remove some events from database if you want, and then you can test again.
