Is there any chance of an add-on to allow syncing with Outlook or Google Calendar? If you could at least sync with Google Cal. then we could use Google's Calendar Sync.

I also read that some people wanted a Shopping Cart feature. Could you integrate with CataLook Storefront? It uses some calendar data for booking tickets and rentals.

Brian,

1. Yes, it is in our todo list for Google Calendar and Outlook integration.

2. Would you like to share more on this requirements on integration with Shopping cart?

Thanks.

I'm sorry, your avatar creeps me out... There is a booking feature built into CataLook Store & Booking module. It allows you to purchase tickets for a particular day. If the theatre or booking place is full, that day becomes unable to be selected. It would be great to be able to see the dates and amount of seats, for example, in the calendar. You could click on the short title in your calendar and it will take you to the store item.

Brian,

Yes, actually you can display the # of places left in the pop up balloon. By adding the tokens like:
[NUMBEROFPARTICIPANTS]
[AVAILABLESEATS]
[MAXREGISTRATION]

Not sure if that's what you mean?

Thanks.

Gary,

The best way is to export an iCal. You need to have a URL that points to an iCal-formatted stream. Then Google calendar, Windows calendar, iCal on the Mac and many other calendars will be able to read the event calendar.

If you want to make it fancy, provide iCal streams for everything you currently output as RSS. Then I could get an iCal-formatted link for a category, just like you do with RSS. The RSS page would have buttons for RSS and iCAL for each entry.

This would be extremely useful, and would allow our users to see our event calendar in their personal calendars, which would greatly expand the visibility of our events to our members.

You probably have this but here is the link to the CalDAV .NET api for Google Calendar.

http://code.google.com/apis/calendar/data/2.0/developers_guide_dotnet.html

Obviously I would love to see this integration.

Thanks

Phil,

Yes, we have studied this too, and it is very feasible to integrate with Google calendar. and we will have this feature ready very soon...

For Outlook integration, Onyaktech had done a module allows you to do that:

Gary, I might be doing a new project with a calendar, soon, and I'd love to use yours again. I'd love to tell my client we can export an iCal feed as well as RSS. Is this slated for a near-term release?

Do you intend to use the feed to integrate with Google Calendar?

If so, we are not using that for Google integration, we are using Google API provided and integrated thru back end seamlessly.

You can expect the Google integration feature very soon.

We also have plans to integrate with Twitter and Facebook for you soon...

Twitter and FB would be great.

But using iCal you can get many calendars, not just Google. For example, Google, Outlook, Windows Calendar and Mac iCalendar all support this format. The GMail API just lets you get event data into a Google Calendar, right? Then I have to export iCal from that Google Calendar to your local calendar. Might work, but more complicated. You're better off using the standard method (iCal) rather than a proprietary API.

Alden,

It makes sense, we should still support iCal formats for export for 1 or more events, besides the Google integration.

Hi

I need to sync my calendar on the website with an existing outlook calendar - so the outlook calendar is the source of items and every so often I need to import these into my EC&R calendar. Is this possible?

thanks'

Eleatha,

Maybe you want to take a look at the Onyak Tech DNN Outlook Events module, it integrates with Events Calendar module as well.

Thanks.

I just upgraded to EC&R 4.0 and it is great. I was wondering if there is an Auto Sync for the calendar with google or if there is a way to set a scheduled sync somehow?

Brian,

Thanks.

Currently it is a "manual" sync with Google calendar. we may add "auto sync" in future release..

Gary,

This form of sync is not suitable to our needs. Perhaps you can reconsider implementing iCal?

We are interested in getting our events into the personal calendars of our members, not a separate Google calendar. This is what extends the visibility of our events to our members. So I pull up my personal calendar on my desktop, iPhone or laptop and I see appointments I made (dentist 10am) along with suggested events from our community placed there by our calendar administrator.

This is simple to do in a manner that supports many calendar applications and web calendars (including Google calendar). You already support RSS for events very well. You have an RSS feed for each category, which is very nice. But few people use a feed reader to manage their appointments. They use a calendar. Simply offer the same information in iCal format as well and you will be able to meet this scenario with many calendar applications. For an example, study Google calendar. Find "Calendar Details" for a calendar and look for "Calendar Address." Google provides XML, ICAL and HTML feeds for the calendar.

Alden,

Sure, you will get it!

So we will make the same function as the RSS do currently in iCal format will do, right?

Yes, that's exactly right. Be sure you include a link to the event in the description field of the iCal record. Then someone can see the event in their calendar, click the link and register.

We've purchased the module on the strength of this feature coming, as it's probably the most desired by our users. Looking forward to the update! :-)
