1.) I would like to tie an image to a specific category. i.e. any article within a given category would have an image next to it, visually denoting the category. Is this possible?

2.) Currently, what are the categories used for?

3.) In the template I see [PICTURE|100,100], but don't see a spot to specify a picture?

4.) I would like to automatically highlight "NEW" articles. Is this possible?

5.) When is the expected release date for the next version?

6.) Selecting "Migration" throws an error of "A critical error has occurred. Could not load file or assembly 'EfficionConsulting.Categories, Version=3.0.0.25742, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." This probably needs to be handled better?

Jeffrey,

1. We can add this feature for you.
2. Currently the category is used mainly for filtering purpose.
3. You can specify the picture when you create a new article.
4. Yes, you can use the token [NEWARTICLEFLAG]
5. We hope we can have the release in July.
6. The migration is for users who is using the legacy module: Advanced Announcements 4.0. The error shows that you don't have this module, so nothing to migrate.
In the new version, we will provide more ways to import from various modules. :)

Unfortunately, I can't think of a workaround to display the category images automatically. Unless you use custom properties.

How would the custom properties work to solve the requirement? I would want it to be user friendly for the end user who would be adding the articles. My idea is that they would just select a category / field and "presto" an image would show up next to the article.

What I mean is, you can create a few Custom Properties, it will appear in the Edit Articles screen.

Users can select/tick the custom properties (Check box), and then you can display article detail according to those values.
(Please also refer to the User Guide on how to use the custom properties token)

Please test it maybe it can be done that way.

This idea almost worked. :-) Unfortunately, there is a bit of a bug in the list functionality.

When you go in to create a custom property, and select a data type of List, it will ask you to enter the list items, one line for one item.
I did so, ensuring absolutely no extra spaces were on the end.
I click "Update Property"
If I go back into the property I see two spaces are tacked on to each list item. This is reflected in the output -- output is now like "News " instead of "News"

This is causing problem because there is no image called "News .png" it is called "News.png"

It appears that the values are not being trimmed before they are inserted in the database.

Jeffrey,

I don't see this problem in our test environment.
Are you using Custom Properties 1.2.1, or 1.1.3?

Thanks.
