Hello, I recently implemented the content manager on a site I am constructing and have ran into a couple of oddities. I want to make sure that I am doing it right and there isn't something that I have missed. 1. I have found that users that only have editing rights to a page are able to create their own content types in the content manager module. That means that if they do not have approving or publishing rights, they could set up a content type where their role is the approver and/or the publisher -- essentially bypassing the entire approval process. Is there anyway to lock this down? Can you make content type creation only accessible to certain roles? 2. Is there a way to make certain content types default for specific pages or groups of pages? The site I am building has 60+ different departments that all need one of 4 content types. It's easy for users to forget to set it when adding the module to the page. Thank you for your help and I appreciate any light you can shed on this. Thanks! -Joe |

1. If you set the user to Editing rights to the page, they become the Administrator for that page. Usually they will allow users to Edit the module on that page only (not edit permission to that entire page). I am not sure this way will work for you, maybe you have much more content on that page requires the user to be able to edit.? 2. Currently there is only one type of Content Type can be set to default across the portal. 3. For #1, if you are not able to change the user permission for your website, another way you can Edit the Content Types editing permission manually, and only allow it to site Administrators. How to do this? Login as Host Account, go to Host >> Module Definitions >> Content Manager, then you will find a list controls below, find the one called "Content Types", click on the edt button at the left, the current permission is set to Edit, change it to Admin. Hope that helps. Thanks. |

Hello - I'm to implement suggestion #3. I see "Approval", "Edit", "EditRouting", "ManageRouting", "Options", and "VersionManager" in the list of controls at the bottom of the page. I don't see "Content Types". How can I get "Content Types" in the list so I can make this change? I'm using version 04.01.05 of the module. Thanks! |

I think that depends on your Container settings on how many buttons to display. But generally you should be able to access from the module drop down menu. Btw, I think you are given a free upgrade to v4.2, please check it out. (it is a free update to v4.1.6) Thanks. |

I believe you might be referring to accessing the Version Manager page itself. I can get to the Version Manager page. At the bottom of the Version Manager page, I see the controls I list in my previous post ("Approval", "Edit", "EditRouting", "ManageRouting", "Options", and "VersionManager"). I don't see "Content Types" in the list. How do I get "Content Types" in that list? Thanks! |

OIC. Thanks for your screen shot, a picture is better than thousand words! :) At the module definitions, it is called "Mange Routings", it was later changed to Manage Content Types, for the sake of upgrade compatible, we kept this and didn't change that name. So it should okay for you now? |
