Hi. We are using the Content Manager on a large site with multiple department heads responsible for drafting their respective site section content. Upon submitting new content, we need the Marketing department to approve/publish the content. We thought the Marketing department would be able to do this by visiting a page with a "Content Approval" module, giving them a one-stop-shop to manage new content. However, we are now discovering that module only displays content for the active user logged in. Are we missing something? Doesn't that defeat the purpose for having a content workflow? Any clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

David, All content pending approval for the active user will be displayed in the Content Approval module. If you want a user to be able to approve the content, you can add his role to the Approval Role under the Manage Content Types. Hope that helps? |

Right now (for all Content Types), Administrators (e.g., Marketing Team) are assigned for "Notifications", "Approve", "Publish" and "Reject". However, when they view the "Content Approval" module they don't see any content from the various "... Content Editor" roles. Is that by design? If so, it doesn't really make much sense to us. How often would a content editor be allowed to approve/publish/reject their own content. It seems to defeat the purpose of the content workflow altogether. If I am off base here, please help me to understand how it is designed to work. I am hoping there is a logical explanation. Thanks, David |

hi, David, The Content Approval only shows any content that is pending approval, or pending publish. So if an Edit user edit the content, send for approval, then the Content Approval module should show that content, once it is approved, and published, it will not be shown on the Content Approval module. Does it help you to understand better? Thanks. |

That sounds more like what I am expecting. However, it doesn't seem to be working that way. Here's an example of how it is working just to make sure we are talking apples and apples here: - Person A (Content Editor) submits content on Page A (Content Type A) for approval. - Content Approver role configured to receive notifications, to approve, to publish and to reject content for Content Type A. - Person B (Content Approver) receives notification of content submitted for approval. - Person B (Content Approver) goes to Page B with Content Approval module on it. No content submitted by Person A is listed in Content Approval module on Page B awaiting approval. Should it be working this way? Or should content submitted by Person A be listed in Content Approval module on Page B when Person B is viewing it? If the latter is true, I believe we have discovered a bug. Any help in resolving would be much appreciated. Thanks, David |

At your step 4: Person B (Content Approver) goes to Page B with Content Approval module on it, B should see a list of content pending for approval. So in your case, something is wrong... Two things, 1. In your configuration, Person A can submit content, but can A also Approve, and Publish content? If so, then the content is automatically published, so no content for B to approve. 2. Can you log in to the demo page on this website as Editor, and Approval, do you see the same results on your site? If that still does not solve the problem, please send your both user/passwords to support @ invenmanager.com, we will check it out for you. :)

It appears to be working correctly. I think it was just a matter of the circumstances we were viewing it. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you for the great support! |
