I totally agree with you.

The email notification feature was discussed most among all other questions, initially many users feedback that they do not want any notification if payment is not made, (but the module used to send email anyway). after much discussion, we decided to change it the current way, but obviously it does not work well for many of you either...

So we decided to enhance the feature and allow users to control the way they want, as I posted above... I am sure you will find the new version much more friendly.
