We have several "after school activities" that parents pay for their kids to attend where the activity is held once a week for a semester. For example, we have a chess club that meets 12 times during a semester, but parents pay for "Chess Club Spring 2010" only once. Defining this as a recurring event would look nice on the calendar. However, I suppose that user's have to pay for each of the event instances separately if I define it as a recurring event. I suppose I need to put the meeting schedule in the description of the event and include the event only once on the calendar on the first meeting date?

Nathan, I think Yes.

1. No matter what, the parent needs to pay for one event only, after that, the parent can be added to a special User Role automatically.

2. You can create a special event for pay. and still retaining the recurring events to display in the calendar, but have a link to point to that special event for parents to pay. (you can show this recurring event to the User role added by step one if you idea is to not to show this event to everyone)

Thanks! But, how do I make a link to a special event for parents to pay? I don't follow why I would want a User Role to limit who could see the payment page.

I'm thinking that I could create a registration event, e.g. "Chess Club Registration" that is not a recurring event and a recurring event with enrollment disabled just as a way to put the series of chess club sessions on the calendar. I guess the other option is to make one non-recurring event scheduled for the date that we open registration and just describe the series of sessions in the description. :(

Actually, what I think I'll do is define the event for the first session in the series and configure the Event to allow registration for the dates that we allow registration. I'll submit an enhancement request when I get a chance as well.

Thanks,

Yes, what you mentioned can be a work around.

Thanks.
