Howdy folks...

A small business that I do some support for is looking for a scheduling application and website. I recommended DNN to them and had started looking at the natively provided events module until realized I didn't think/see that this was the solution. So I looked around and found Invenmanager.

Here is the barckground info on the business. The company manages a varied labor pool and projects. The project are matched up to the labor pool via their listed skills. I.e. plumbers, carpenters, handymen, etc...

People (non dnn registered users / anonymous users) can search the web site for the type of people they need for a small project. The company then acts as an agent to coordinate the request for work from the customer and manages scheduling the labor pool. All labor is thought to be entered as a DNN user. We want to be able to track a calendar/schedule for each laborer. This seems to be the Calendar sub-calendar relationship... but I am getting into the detais. Back to the general information.

A user group within DNN would be setup for managers of the data. I.e. (Coordinators). Any member of the "coordinators" group can create a "new event" as this seems to be analagous to a project. All laborers would belong to a global group named "laborers" and then subsequently added to child groups broken out by trade. I.e. plumbers, carpenters, etc... you get the idea. Coordinators are in charge of entering/creating DNN labor (standard user) accounts.

So now to the basics requirements that I've been trying to meet working with the demo version:

1) A single master calendar exists so that all projects can be displayed in a single view

2) a sub-set of projects can be filtered on by type of project matching the role name in DNN. I.e. plumbers, carpenters, etc... (this is a nice to have)

3) Each user has their own schedule so a user search feature is desired in the DNN app. (this is not a requirement for Invenmanager). However, we do want a single DNN page to display the relevant scheduled appointments for whichever user is selected from the search process. We really do not want to have to create a DNN page for each laborer (DNN user) entry.

Also, could a sub-calendar be created for the Ivenmanager module at the completion of a DNN registration or scheduled SQL process?

4) Similar to the DNN events module we like the functionality that specific details of an event are masked when an anonymous user looks at a calendar. When a registered DNN member looks at the calendar all details appear. I am curious as to how this could work in Ivenmanager and the custom properties fields... This would be very cool indeed.

we were also thinking that the process followed by a member of the "coordinators" group can create event entries and then assign a laborer or laborers to that event which is analgous to the registration process for a DNN user.

I figured to start here in the forums. We have not purchased Invenmanager yet, but would if we know more about how to meet the needs of the project. We are also willing to spend a few bucks on the implmentation and setup if we know the major functional points can be met.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cordially,

Mike

ps. Am I making sense here? Please feel free to illicit further details.

Mike,

Can I suggest you to download a free trial to test it out first? You can do it in just a few minutes...

Hi there.

I have downloaded the demo and have been working with it for most of the past 3 - 4 days. I have read the guide, I know that this is not the usual but I do believe in reading first... lol. I still remain quite confused on how to setup Invenmanager the way we need.
