Can someone direct me to an explanation of this feature? What's is used for (as compared to registering for an event?) I couldn't find anything in the current documentation.

We are still updating the documentation.

if you turn on the RSVP, there will be a RSVP option at the Event detail page, similar to the way how you RSVP Face Book event.

In this case, you can remove the Register button from the list view template if you want.
