Some users encountered the time out issue when uploading the installation pack to a remote server, here is the solution:

1. Just place the Event_Calendar_Registration_2.5_PA.zip in your website folder: /Install/Module
(You can FTP to your website folder if you want)

2. and go to your site with '/install/install.aspx?mode=installresources' added on the end, and this will install all modules found under /Install/Module/ that are zipped up.

Example address to go to after .zip upload: http://www.domain.com/install/install.aspx?mode=installresources

3. You will see a list of modules available for installation.

This way, you eliminate the problem of uploading the huge zip file over the web page.

I try to re-install the Event Calendar & Registration 3.0 on DNN 5, but your solution doesn't work either, although I run it locally.

Hi,

We are having issues with installing the trail version of Event Calendar & Registration 3.0 on DNN 5.1.4.
1. First attempt, install the module on DNN website, timeout expired, only sitellite modules appear in the Module Definitions.
2. Then I tried to unstall everthing and re-install again on the server, extended the timeout in web.config, then followed steps suggested above, dump .zip file in install/module directory and run /install/install.aspx?mode=installresources, however still ended up with errors. Similarly, only sitellite module are showing in Module Definitions, the main module is not installed.
3. Then I noticed Custom Properties are needed prior to the events module, then I tried again, still no luck, both tried install on DNN website and on the server
4. I decided to try again, unstall each siltellite module in Module Definitions one by one, run unstall sql script under Host->SQL, just in case. Re-install, however ended up with same errors.
4. I also tried repair install on the DNN website, the following error occurred:
SQL Execution resulted in following Exceptions: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not drop object 'dbo.EventsCalendarRegistration' because it is referenced by a FOREIGN KEY constraint. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.ExecuteADOScript(String SQL) at DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.ExecuteScript(String Script, Boolean UseTransactions) /** Check For Events Calendar Registration Table Existence**/ IF exists (select * from dbo.sysobjects where id = object_id(N'dbo.EventsCalendarRegistration') and OBJECTPROPERTY(id, N'IsTable') = 1) BEGIN DROP TABLE dbo.EventsCalendarRegistration END

The weird thing I noticed after each installation with errors, when I went to the database, I cannot find this table 'dbo.EventsCalendarRegistration', plus any other EventsCalendar related tables.

This whole installation process is really frustrating, and we don't experince this issue with any other modules. Can you recommand a solution before we move on to another events module.

Cheers,
Cassie

Please help especially with the tables. It is very time consuming to have to manually delete the tables and foreign keys, procedures etc. Shouldn't this be done with the uninstall?

Seems to be a few performance issues with this release.

Thanks,

Yes, the Uninstall scripts will do the job, however, during a time out, the SQL scripts are not executed.

We will do some research on how to avoid such problems... thanks.

Hi Guys,

I'm having a similar problem with DNN 05.02.00. I try both solutions and still can't get it installed. I purchase it yesterday and try multiple times but having no luck with it. Any help is appreciated.

Jimmy,

If that is a problem for you. try the following:

1. Uninstall all 5 modules (starts with Events Calendar)
2. Delete all tables starts with EventsCalendar.

3. Install using the PA for DNN 4.x. (it works on DNN 5.2 as well)

If that does not get it fixed, send your host account to support @ invenmanager.com, and we will install it for you.

Thanks.

I was able to install the module but when I try to add it to a page it comes as an empty module. All I need is the basic calendar module, I do not need the flash module.

As many users experienced, DotNetNuke 5.x has been very problematic for this module installation.

We have done some research and getting to know that the reason for this is a security check placed on sql files before they are executed.

If you have an account connecting to SQL with low privileges, this may take some time and cause your installation to timeout.

There are two things you can do:

1. Connect to SQL with a higher privilege account, such as db_owner, "sa" in most cases.
You can change the account connecting to SQL server in web.config.

2. Extend the executionTimeout attribute in web.config.
if it does exist, you can add it in. The executionTimeout below will set to 10 minutes.

<system.web>
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="1048576" executionTimeout="800" />
</system.web>

Many users are experiencing installation Time Out issue on DNN 5.x. We have recently launched Event Calendar & Registration v4.0.

Specifically, among all other things, we also addressed the installation problem with the following:

1. Split the install package into two. So each package (zip file) will have a smaller file size.

2. Consolidate the SQL Scripts, so it requires less execution of SQL files. We now run only 9 SQL scripts files compared to 72 used in v3.1.

So you will have less problem installing the module. Hope you like the new module, the beta is now available for doweload, , we hope to have the final release by end of this week.

Just in case you didn't get this fixed here is the solution I got for the same problem you are having. I went in and removed anything that had to do with the calendar. Make sure you delete the files too. Then download the latest version of the calendar package. Unzip it and there should be two install files. Go to the web.config and make the change to the http runtime referenced above. Then put the first install file in the directory install/modules. Browse to your site /install/install.aspx... as mentioned above. Do the same thing for the second install package. It takes 10+ minutes so be patient. Hope you get it working.
