Hi (again)

The new satellite modules look extremely useful for all sorts of things but I haven't quite managed yet to get one to do what I needed. This is largely because of the restrictions on filtering. At the moment you can only have one at a time of the fixed filters and can't use other data for filtering.

Could it be possible to add a filter expression using tokens, similar to DNN's User Defined Table filters? This would include all the current tokens (including custom properties) and would be enormously powerful. At the moment, I need to filter on a custom property like this "[CUSTOMTYPE] = 'Educational'" but other examples would be..

[FEATURED] = 'Featured' ; Featured events only
([FEATURED] = 'Featured') and ([STARTDATE] < [Date:Now]) ; Featured events in the past
[CREATEDBYUSERNAME] = [User:Displayname] ; All events created by the logged in user

.. and so on.

What d'ya think? It would certainly make a world of difference to what I can do and save me hours of SQL/reports module coding.

Hi,

Maybe what you mean is an advanced filterng (Search) condition to allow you to list out your events.
It may not be a good idea to customize Satellite module as it is mainly for listing purpose.

But we can add a search module to help you just like that, see screen below:

Actually, I was just thinking of listing in the satellite module. My original idea was for admins only (not users) to be able to add an additional filter to the listed modules. So there would be no really neat UI, just a text box you could type into (e.g. "[VENUE] = 'City Hall'" to list all events at city hall etc.). This would allow all sorts of handy listings but you might feel it is too difficult or not right for the product.

What I actually need right now is a way for users to be able to filter on a specific custom property OR a way to configure that filter for them and show it on a separate list - so the search module looks as if it would do the trick. How would it work? Would it be an extra module to put on a page that applied a filter to specific calendars on the page? That would be good, as you would have all the exisitng functionality (create/edit etc.) with an added filter. Or would it be a separate display module with it's own templates?

Cheers

It is a separate module with it's own template.

Ok, I understand. So will it allow users to see details and edit from there? The reason for asking that I can imagine some complaints if my users can search for a list and then have to move go somewhere else to see details/edit (especially if they lose the other search results in the process)! Sorry to go on about this - I am trying to see if it will solve my probkem.

Yes, of course it can see the detail, it is also template based so you can structure the search results.

Currently it does not allow Editing, we can add this feature though. (if the user is authorized to edit the event)

With editing in, this sounds just the thing (you guys must be busy!).

Is this in the next release?

Cheers

We still need to work on the "Allow Editing" part for this feature.

I guess this is the "roles allowed to edit" feature that I'm looking forward to? This next release is going to change my life ;-)

Cheers
