We deliver dozens of workshops each quarter. The 'Publish Date' will be a real help in building the next quarters schedule online while controlling when the public will have access to the event. However, given the number of workshops and the fact that some are repeated several times during a quarter, not being able to see them in the Calendar View is a problem. So my feature request is to have a check box or radio button that will display unpublished events for logged on users who have entered events that are not yet published. For our operation displaying all unpublished events would work fine. There may be others, however, that would want to display only those events where the logged on user is the 'owner' of the event.

Please let me know if you need a further explanation.

Thanks for your attention and help!

Hi, Mike,

We can consider that feature.. currently you only can view unpublished events under My Events.

Thanks

FWIW - I need this as well for two of my clients. Ideally, making this role based would be perfect. Right now I have setup one role for users who can post events (this is a club that posts 400 - 500 events a year). Then another role for calendar admins. They can post and approve other events. Only published events can be viewed by anonymous users.

What is happening now is that different people are posting two or three conflicting events on the same day because when the post an event - they have no visibility that someone else has already posted an event at the same time on the same day.

Allowing these events to show on the calendar to a specific role would solve this issue completely.

Also - it would be nice if we could apply CSS or a token to unpublished events on the calendar so visually they look different.

Steven,

i see your point. we should be adding this feature soon.

In the latest v4.0 new version, you also have the ability to check conflicting events.

My client requires this too. Being non-technical users if they have the ability to see the unpublished events visually instead of going to my events would save them a tremendous amount of frustration and double posts.

Hi,

Sure, we will add the feature as follows:

Unpublished events can be viewed by certain roles only. and you can define these Roles under the Main Settings.

That's great! I see that 4 is in beta now. Am I reading correctly that it will require DNN 5.4+ or is that just for beta? Also - [unfair question alert] - any timeline on a release? I've been working on a custom solution for these client and if we're not too far away I would rather wait and save them a lot of time and money.
