We have a problem with the search function

We are using Advanced Articles 4.2.9 with DNN 4.9.2 default search engine.
The Advanced Article Module is ISearchable which is great, however the link returned on search result page is something like "/Home/tabid/37/ItemId/9/Default.aspx" , ie. it will not open the selected article, and does not work well if the article is expired.

Ideally we would like the search to return a link like "/Home/tabid/37/ctl/Detail/mid/402/itemid/9/Default.aspx" so we are able to open the specific article detail.

Just wondering how hard it would be to configure this.

Thanks

I see your point.

Originally it was designed to view the detail inline.( rather use a ctl=detail tag will force DNN use the Admin skin).

Anyway, i will make necessary changes to allow you to view the article details.

The expired articles are also included in the search results.

Thanks.

Thanks, for your reply.
Also, we purchased the enterprise version with source.
It would be very helpful if you could point me to the place in code that needs to be changed.

Thanks

John,

How about if I can change that for you?

When do you need it?

Great, we have the same problem :-)

Will there be a new version or just a "patch file"? May you inform me when it's ready?

Thx

May you give us an estimate of when you add this so that we can tell it to our customer?

Thanks.

Has there been any resolution on this? I have the enterprise version with source and have to have the site launched by the end of December. The search engine linking is a bit of a show stopper for us.

Hi, yes, this issue has been corrected, we uploaded to Snowcovered.com, you can get it from the Download page.

Thanks. :)

I saw that we're using "Advanced Announcements" togehter with "Site Wide Announcments".. Did you just change the name? Is the module compatible with the newer "Advanced Articles"? The customer has thousands of entries with "Advanced Announcements", so the entries should be moved to the "Advanced Articles", hope this is possible?

Is there a version file number etc. All i can seem to find are the files I already downloaded and installed.

Anything need to be changed in the config etc to make it link to the article?

Jeff,

You can see the file was uploaded recently, (though the file name is the same).
You can just install it on top of your existing one.

Hi, 2sic,

Advanced Announcements is a legacy module, you can upgrade to Advanced Articles module, and there is a way to import all the announcements to this new module.

It is always recommended to do it on Test server before you import it on production server.

Thank you.

I downloaded this file from Snowcovered - my account section.

6907_AdvancedArticles_4.2.9_Unzip_Me_Installation_Guide_Inside.zip

Reinstalled (repaired) the installation via the module for both the custom properties and the Advanced Articles .zips.

Search links are still taking users to the satellite article aggregate. Is there something that I am missing?

Disregard the above message - It now seems to be displaying the search links correctly - however, new issue.

When the article is set to display in a separate page without content - I loose my right pane content that is supposed to display on every page. I worked fine before the upgrade, could you provide some insight?

article detail link:
NationalAdvisoryBRPanelBR/tabid/111/ctl/Detail/mid/515/itemid/19/Default.aspx?SkinSrc=[G]Skins/CAIC_v4/SubLevel2_WhiteBox_en
Naigation etc all dispay as per skin. the right module doesn't show.

Search link: http://142.46.205.170/ResponsibleCareHome/NationalAdvisoryBRPanelBR/tabid/111/ItemId/19/vw/1/Default.aspx

NOTE: Articles posted before the update (repair install) of the engine still display the old way i.e. link to the Satelite aggregate. The detail displays on a separate page with the right pane included.

Jeff,

for the detail link, you can change the behavior from the View Options, (detail template, to choose whether to display inline, or in a separate page).

For the search link, it is fixed to show only the detail.

I understand that, my issue is that when the detail is displayed (via the search link or the site link) it drops the skin objects (in this case the right hand column. Is there a way to adjust this? It means that users are loosing a major component of the site when they click to view the article.

Jeff,
The search result link: http://142.46.205.170/ResponsibleCareHome/NationalAdvisoryBRPanelBR/tabid/111/ItemId/19/vw/1/Default.aspx
should be displaying the article detail inline, so no content will be missed.

The detail link: NationalAdvisoryBRPanelBR/tabid/111/ctl/Detail/mid/515/itemid/19/Default.aspx?SkinSrc=[G]Skins/CAIC_v4/SubLevel2_WhiteBox_en
is using the Skin configured at the View Options for the detail.
you can change that skin if you want to adjust the view.

Thanks.

I'm running Advanced Articles 4.2.9, and I seem to be getting complete links in my search results (like https://mywebite.org/Home/tabid/37/ItemId/456/Default.aspx), but when I click on the link, it just takes me to the Home page that contains the Articles Module.

What is going wrong? My users are frustrated that I'm not providing usable search results.

Thanks!

That's great! From the previous discussion, I thought that it was fixed in 4.2.9, which I'm running.

Do have any estimate on when it will be out? A week, a month, 3 months?

I really need search to work -- I need the link in the search results to bring up the actual article, not the page that the article was on before it expired.

When can we get this?

I installed the modules that you sent on top of my older version. I still don't get good links from search.

I tried re-indexing the search and restarting the DNN site. Nothing fixed it.

What do I need to do?

Karl,

No, I am sure it has fixed the search problem.

Can you show me your URL?

Better still, if you can send a host account to support @invenmanager.com will be great.
