Also a quick question, When adding an article in the advanced article module, would it be possible to assign a role to the article by which users of only that particular role can view the article. I know this is do able by adding the user role in category but for my current requirement I do see a list of categories for various products and items which could confuse the non-technical users who would be managing the site. Is it possible to add a view permission custom property and which can be set when adding an article. |

hmmm.. i was working on that option for the trial module, it was just that I already had many categories (8 product categories) and adding new categories based on the user role (3 different security roles) might confuse the end user. Also what are the possibilites for a end user selecting articles to appear in particular satellite. I presume currently the articles are sorted by date and displayed based on the no. of articles to be displayed as shown in the satellite options. Is there a way by which the end user could select a particular article to appear in a satellite. Eg: Group A has a group of articles for a product, Group B has another group of articles of another product. Is there a way for a satellite to display a particular article of Group A along with the articles present in Group B and vice versa.

Gerald, Actually the purpose of having a category attached to the article is for the user to decide where to display the articles. I am not sure what are the other 8 categories you created for, but basically, the satellite module also displays the articles base on the categories. Currently it does not allow selecting an article to be displayed on which satellite. Thanks. |

Hi, Thanks for the relevant information, guess I should prod along with what I have got and hope for the best. I was reading through the manual for Advanced articles and have a question regarding tokens. I do see there is a list of tokens for the module, but if I need to incorporate [Module:Moduletitle] into the template, how can I go about that, would that need some source change? |

I am currently using the Custom properties where i have created a list of the required module names and given it as a requirement while filling up the form by which it displays on the Satellite .. Sooner or later it would be required to make it dynamic for which I have placed the query earlier. |

Thanks for the info, before I purchase the module Advanced Article 4.2.9 with source is there a possibility of knowing when is the next release expected and the feature list if possible. Since it could help me decide what all has to be coded to meet my requirements. |

Hi, I purchased your module with source yesterday due to the deadline which has to be met, the feature I will be adding would be based on my earlier query i.e. trying to assign an article to one or more user roles I do realize the category does meet my requirement in this detail but the management doesn't want to have multiple categories for different user role. i.e. We have 3 different user roles US, EUROPE and ASIA and we are creating categories based of different product pages - Product X, Product Y, Product Z. The advanced article is being used as a central download center and multiple advanced article modules would be placed on a single page based on different section such as a Brochures, Technical documents, Whitepapers, case studies etc. When adding a new article say under Brochure, we have to make sure it falls for a certain product so we tick on the Product category which it has to fall under.. For eg: Product X. The shortcoming I noticed for my current requirement is when creating a new category – a category can be based on one or more user roles by which I would reckon there would be need for Product X US, Product X EUROPE, Product X ASIA category since some products are region specific and shouldn’t be available for other users. By this I would think about modifying the source such that I could allow the end user when inserting a new article an option for check boxes for the existing user roles by which he/she either could select the appropriate article or multi select 2 or more roles rather than selecting multiple category Product X US, Product X EUROPE etc. But I am not sure how will this conflict with the Category permissions which is already available in the module.. Then the satellite will be placed in each of the product page so that a user can see the list of available materials for the current product and also based on their current role. Currently we have 8 different Products which I would like to base as a category but sooner or later the no. of products will increase and so would the roles. In order to avoid a huge list of categories popping up for various regions I think the better option would be basing a individual article on one or more roles. The site is current under localhost but I could send you some screenshots to your email to make it more understanding. Regards, Gerald
