Many users asked these questions:

a. I have already installed Advanced Announcements, can I install Advanced Articles on the same DNN?

b. If can, how can I migrate the old Announcements to the new Articles module?

NOTE: Advanced Announcements is a module provided by Invenmanager.com, not the standard Announcements module comes with DNN (DotnetNuke)

The answer is YES. Steps below will guide you through the process:

1. When you purchase Advanced Articles, there will be two PA* (module installation files) to be downloaded.
- Advanced Articles (New PA installation)
- and Advanced Announcements 4.1.7 (Legacy module PA)

2. Usually you do not need to install the second installation file (Advanced Announcements 4.1.7) unless you would like to migrate old contents.
The reason for this is because the new module, Advanced Articles comes with a migration tool, which is build to be compatible with Advanced Announcements 4.1.7. So in order to make it working, you need to upgrade it to 4.1.7 first.

If you do not want to migrate any content (old announcements), you do not need to install this.

3. Please note the requirements for both modules are:
- DNN 4.6+ and above (Must have)
- .NET 2.0 Framework
- SQL 2000/SQL 2005/Express

4. Then you install the Advanced Articles module using the PA downloaded from Snowcovered.com

5. Install the Advanced Announcements 4.1.7 ONLY if you want to migrate content over. This will upgrade your existing Announcements module, all your content will be intact.

6. Add a new Advanced Articles module to one of your pages, at the module action menu, you will see a option called "Migration", from this page, you can follow on screen instructions to select which module to import the content.

7. If you have further questions on this process, please post to this forum.

Thank you.

* PA: PA means Private Assembly, it is a Zip file used to install a module over the DNN (DotnetNuke) platform.
