I have a client using DNN version 4.7 and using Content Manager version 4.01.06.

The issue is that even though a maximum number of versions to keep is set at 2, every version of every document is being stored. The net result being that the SQL database is getting rather large. The table size of the content manager table is approx 230 MB. All of the rest of the data for the site adds up to about 70 MB.

1) Is there anything we should be doing differently to have only 2 saved versions of each document?

2) Do you have any recommendation for cleaning this up or should we do things "The Old Fashioned Way" and go into the SQL table and manually cleqan up this data.

Obviously, the first point above is the most critical to be answered.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might have some insights on this issue!

Please check your Scheduler, you need to login as Host Account, then Schedule, to see this is working correctly:
ContentManager.ArchiveContent, ContentManager

If not, you must enable it, and check the history of the schedule to see whether there is any thing wrong. The # of version and Archive content is done by the scheduler at a regular interval.

Thanks.

Thanks for the help! As directed, I have checked the DNN scheduler. The job, ContentManager.ArchiveContent, ContentManager is enabled and scheduled to run every 12 hours. In checking the job history, all records indicate that the job runs successfully. However, all of the unwanted versions of every document still remain in the database.

Is there anything else you could recommend to get rid of these old versions?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

The max number of version should be working correctly.

Can you make sure the following:

1. Go to Manage Content Types, and check the max number of versions are provided is 2.

2. And then your module is correctly linked to that Content Type, at the Content Manager Settings.

Once you set this up, each time when you add a new version of content, the old version will be removed.

Please check and let me know, thanks.
