Hello!

I've tried the Event calendar 3.1 and love it (though would rather hope to see auto dnn user creation sooner then later ;) )

BUT! I ran into a big (for me) problem with DNN 5.1: after a logged in user registers for an event, it is not being added to the role specified for the event attendees... Have you ever seen this behavior?

Thanks!

Konrad,

Only the current user who registers the event will be added to the DNN Role, not all the attendees he added, because those attendees maybe not from the DNN users at all.

Hi Inven

That's exactly what I mean, however it's not hapeening :(

That's the highlevel workflow I expect based on the documentation:
1. An admin creates a role
2. An admin creates an event and specifies a role "Y" for the attendees to be assigned to upon completion of their registration

3a. An anonimous user "A" registers for an event
3b. A registered and *logged in* DNN user "X" registers for an event
3c. An authorized user / editor manually registers attendee "Z" for the event

4a. User "A" from step 3a cannot be added to role "Y" as there is no dnn-user auto-creation (at least yet ;) )- manual process heceforth
4b. DNN user "X" from step 3b is automatically assigned to role "Y" by the module upon:
i) event registeration for a free event
ii) receipt of the payment for a paid event
iii) manual registeration approval by admin for a paid event
4c. Attendee "Z" from step 3c is not added to role "Y" as "Z" did not registr by themself

The only thing I'm not sure here is step 4c.
Am I close ? If so, the step 4b doesn't happen for me at all...

Thanks :)

Hi,

1. 4b should happen.

2. 4c will not happen because "Z" did not login to register, only that user who login to register will be added to the role (though this may not the case sometimes)

Hello again

Well, I've installed dnn 5.2.2 and hit a problem: when creating an event, I cannot specify the role to add the attendees to (the list is empty, i.e. has only one item: "-")... Turns out the client had hit the same problem as I did now though they forgot to mention it to me - so my initial post should have said "step 2 doesn't happen"

Step 4b happens fine if I change the DB manually like so: "update EventsCalendar set AddUserRole = 99 where ItemID = 1;" which whilst inconvenient is fine by me but alas not for my client.
Is it a bug or a configuration/compatibility problem? I would like to buy the module as soon as there is a working solution to this.

PS: would you perhaps prefer to go via emails from here? if so you know mine :)

Thanks

In order to select a role under that drop down list. you need to specify available roles at the Main Settings, under Permission section.
